I recently enjoyed my stay at Hallmark House, where the beautiful architecture and attentive staff truly impressed me. While the room was clean and spacious, I did notice some issues with noise and the dining options could use improvement. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but with a few areas needing attention.

Rooms
8.0
The room I stayed in was spacious and clean, with a large bathroom and a nice balcony. However, it was quite cold even with the heat on, and the blackout blinds didn’t reach the floor, which was a bit annoying.
Service
9.0
The staff were friendly and welcoming, making my stay more enjoyable. They even offered their security team to walk with me when I needed it, which was a nice touch.
Location
7.0
I loved the location, just 500 meters from Maboneng District, which made it easy to explore vibrant urban areas. However, I found the hotel area quite small, making it a little uncomfortable to navigate in and out.
Dining
6.0
The dining options at the hotel were limited, and I think they could definitely offer better coffee. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lacking, which affected my overall dining experience.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had decent facilities and room service, but I found the lack of signage made it challenging to find my way around at times.

7.0/10

I had a mixed experience at Hallmark House during my one-night stay. The rooftop bar offered a nice vibe with live jazz music, but the music was quite loud, making it hard to enjoy. My room was spacious and had a comfortable bed, but I faced some issues with the hot water and air conditioning. The service could be improved, especially in the restaurant where options were limited and I had to wait for food.

Rooms
6.0
My Deluxe Room was spacious and well-designed with some luxury touches. However, I struggled with the shower's inconsistent hot water, and the air conditioning did not adequately warm up the room. Also, I noticed some stains on the carpets and furniture which made the room feel less inviting.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, the service in the restaurant was slow, and I had to wait quite a bit for my food. This was especially frustrating since there were limited vegetarian options available.
Location
5.0
The location is slightly concerning as I felt the area was a bit dodgy, especially at night. I wouldn't recommend walking around, even to nearby Maboneng, as it can feel unsafe. It's better to use Uber for getting around.
Dining
5.0
While the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, I was disappointed by the limited dining options. Breakfast consisted of just a few set menus, and there was only one vegetarian choice which was fruit and yoghurt. It would have been better to have a wider selection.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel had some good facilities like the rooftop bar and cozy interiors, but the noise from the bar and my room was a downside. I also missed having more extensive room service options and better heating facilities.

I had a pleasant stay at Hallmark House, enjoying the modern room design and large bathroom. The breakfast was good, and I appreciated the reliable WiFi during load-shedding. However, I found the location a bit concerning for walking around, and there were a few maintenance issues that needed attention.

Rooms
7.0
My Standard Double Room was clean and comfortable. I was impressed by the large bathroom and wonderful shower, but I did notice some issues like only one working electrical outlet and housekeeping not fully closing the door after cleaning.
Service
8.0
The staff were kind and accommodating. They even remembered me from my previous stay and made sure I felt welcomed. It's clear they strive to provide good service.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location is not ideal for walking, especially alone. While it is close to some attractions, I wouldn't recommend venturing out on foot. Having a car made things easier for exploring the area.
Dining
7.0
The breakfast spread had a selection of cereals and yoghurts. While the meal was nice, I found the options a bit limited, especially for someone who doesn't eat pork.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel offered good facilities like reliable power during load-shedding and a nice reception area. But there were some minor issues, like the phone not working and wifi not reaching my room.

My stay at Hallmark House was a mixed experience. While I found the interior design quite artistic and the room spacious, there were issues with the hot water and some limited dining options that dampened the overall enjoyment. The rooftop bar with its live jazz music was a highlight, yet the volume was overwhelming at times.

My stay at Hallmark House had its ups and downs. The vibrant, arty atmosphere was enjoyable, and the night vibe, especially with the jazz club, created a lovely ambiance. However, I faced some inconvenience with room cleanliness and upkeep, which was disappointing for a hotel I used to love.

Rooms

My deluxe room was spacious and had a nice, big bathroom. but it was a letdown that the carpet had dirt stains and the curtain rail was about to fall. I expected better upkeep.

The location is great for enjoying the city views, and it's a safe, easy walk to Maboneng. although I wouldn’t recommend walking in the other direction at night.
